Choral Group and God's Voice Fifth Grade D.A.R.E. Graduates

Student activities at Immaculate Conception School support our mission to infuse Catholic culture and faith into all areas of our students’ lives.  These activities enable the students to develop strong bonds among peers to enhance team-building skills and create life long friendships.

Immaculate Conception Youth Ministry

Children grow cognitively by interacting with knowledgeable peers and adults.  Our Junior CYO, in connection with the parish community, provides enrichment, service, social and spiritual programs for the youth in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.  Some of these activities include Aid for Friends Group Cook, Christmas Caroling to shut-ins, dances, trips, lecture series, and Carewalk.

CYO sports teams include Boys Cross Country (grades 1 through 8), Girls Cross Country (grades 1 through 8), Girls Volleyball (grades 5 through 8), Boys and Girls Basketball (grades 5 through 8), Baseball (grades 6 through 8), Softball (grades 6 through 8), and Boys and Girls Track (grades Kindergarten through  8).

In addition to CYO, there are several other parish-sponsored activities CYO that offer children the opportunity to develop strong bonds and prolonged relationships.  These groups are Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little Flowers, Children’s Music Ministry, and Altar Servers.

Literature, Music and Fine Arts

Children can be intelligent in a variety of ways.  Their strengths can be musical, linguistic, spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, kinesthetic, or naturalistic.  Immaculate Conception School offers a variety of music and art programs in order to educate the whole child, and to address physical, social, emotional, and academic needs,   Musical activities include instrumental lessons, Beginner Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Choral Group, God’s Voice, Liturgy Group, and Musical Theatre Club.

Students have an opportunity to develop their art skills through a Saturday morning Art Workshop.  This program allows students to be taught on a more individual basis to encourage and enhance their craft.  The eighth grade students at ICS are also able to work together with peers and teachers in producing a school-wide yearbook.  The Forensics program provides students an opportunity to exhibit their oral expression through practice public speaking and competition

After School Enrichment

Various activities at Immaculate Conception enable students to pursue and enrich other areas of interest.  We provide activities and experiences that allow the students to explore all intelligences.

These activities include a Chess Club, Student Government, Crochet Club, Garden Club, academic competitions, school website workers, National Junior Honor Society, and foreign language workshops.

Summer Activities

We continue to follow our mission throughout the summer by offering activities to our students and adults of the community.  Art and drama programs, voice and band lessons provide students options to explore and enrich their lives.  The Jenkintown Community Concert Band provides a working environment for students to perform professionally with our alumni and adult members.  Adults of our community can participate in various technology workshops to sharpen their skills.
